Its total area is now almost 3,000 ha. The WSEZ is the largest among the 14 special economic zones functioning in Poland.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Council of Ministers approved the WSEZ\u2019s application to include five new subzones in it. The zone now covers lands in three towns in Opolskie Province: D\u0105browa (109 ha), Lewin Brzeski (31 ha), and Niemodlin (2 ha). A new subzone has also been created in \u015awiebodzin (Lubuskie Province), where 5.8 ha of land will now enjoy the status of a special economic zone, and in Ksi\u0105\u017c Wielkopolski (Wielkopolskie Province) \u2013 almost 50 ha. The latter lies barely 45 km from Wrze\u015bnia, where Volkswagen\u2019s new factory is being built.<\/p>\n<p>The area of the existing subzones of the WSEZ \u201cINVEST-PARK\u201d has grown by 110 ha. New lands have been included in Wroc\u0142aw (14 ha), Strzelin (4.3 ha), Skarbimierz (38 ha), Ko\u015bcian (5.7 ha), and Ole\u015bnica (48 ha). The last-mentioned area will be used solely by GKN Driveline, which has already begun the construction of a new production facility. Consequently, the Wa\u0142brzych zone made the decision to cover this land, too.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We will do our best to use the new opportunities well. The first investors have already expressed their interest in the new areas. Only in the first half of 2015, we issued 12 new permits. Our plans are ambitious. We would like to attract not only large strategic investors, but also broaden our offer for small and medium-sized enterprises, e.g. by building more production floors for rent, says Barbara Ka\u015bnikowska, President of the Wa\u0142brzych Special Economic Zone \u201eINVEST-PARK\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the request of the WSEZ, 48 ha of land have been excluded from it. In total, the area of the zone has increased by 270 ha and it now covers 2,920 ha. Almost 1,360 ha of attractive investment-ready land can still be used by investors. It is estimated that the inclusion of the new areas may result in the creation of 8,000 jobs and capital expenditure of around 4 billion zlotys. The WSEZ now covers areas in 48 subzones in four provinces: Dolno\u015bl\u0105skie, Wielkopolskie, Opolskie, and Lubuskie. 179 companies are functioning within it, whose capital expenditure amounts to 19.1 billion zlotys.
